Angst-The-Devil-Out

And here it ends
this devil that is
anxiety

done with the notes
they can go retrieve their coats
they’re no longer welcome

it came for me
and I let it
though now I regret it

when you let it hit
it grips
with the tightest fist
so tight you forget
how to feel right
in the first place

depression
is just seconds
a welcome afterthought
a welcome reprieve
from anxiety’s clutches

you must fight
rage against the dark shroud
threatening your light

or it will snuff it out
snuff you out
and all that you hold dear
shall recoil in fear

for to be anxious
is to fear
that which you can not do
and that which you can do–
and that my friend
is scarier
than fear itself
